  Wat Buppharam

Wat Buppharam in Chiang Mai. It was founded in 1497 AD by Phaya Meuang Kaew, a Lan Na king who reigned from 1495 to 1526 AD.

 

However, most of the temple buildings, such as a 1819 built teak ordination hall with waen fah glass inlay, date to later periods.

The temple's main prayer hall has a handrail in the shape of a multi headed naga (fig.), as well as makara (fig.) at the entrances.

 

It houses three principal Buddha images, including, a replica  of the Phra Phutta Sihing Buddha statue and a replica of the Emerald Buddha in summer attire (fig.).

The compound also houses a Burmese-style chedi, said to have been rebuilt in 1958.
