The escutcheon of
Samut Prakan shows Phra Samut Chedi,
a
chedi of which construction started
during the rule of
Phra Phutta Leut
La and now stands on the banks of the
Phraya river (fig.), but earlier stood on a
small island in the middle of the river, which made the local population call it Phra Chedi Klang Nahm,
‘the chedi in
the middle of the water’.
