Phrathat Narai Cheng Weng
is
an ancient
brick monument situated in
Sakon Nakhon
that structure dates to approximately the 11th–12th centuries AD and
reflects strong architectural influence from the artistic and religious
traditions associated with the
Khmer
Empire.
The
monument resembles a Khmer sanctuary tower that was
later incorporated into the Buddhist sacred landscape as
a reliquary
stupa
or
pagoda
and
is noted for its decorative
carvings and detailed
bas-reliefs (fig.).
