To publicize the Bangkok 1993 World Philatelic Exhibition, as well as to commemorate the (in 1993 AD) 85th anniversary of the installation of the Equestrian Statue of King Rama V at the Royal Plaza in Bangkok's Dusit area, which was printed on the 5th series of postage stamps on Rama V, issued in 1908.

Stamp on stamp design of the 5th series of Rama V (fig.), known in Thai as phra boromma roop songmah and in English as (Equestrian) Statue of King Chulalongkorn or Jubilee High Values, with denominations of 1 tical, 2 ticals, 3 ticals, 5 ticals, 10 ticals, 20 ticals, and 40 ticals, which were issued on 11 November 1908, and with an illustration of the equestrian statue of King Chulalongkorn at the Royal Plaza in Bangkok's Dusit area (fig.), in order to commemorate 40 years of this king's reign. Each stamp has a different background colour akin to the main colour of the 1908 stamp, which is overprinted with the logo of the Bangkok 1993 World Philatelic Exhibition in red.
