A zat pwe performance by Mon boys and girls, on a floating theatre on the Kwae River (fig.), in the jungle of Kanchanaburi.

 

The movements of this Burmese classical dance performance (fig.) are strongly influenced by those of the marionette puppets used in yokthei pwe (fig.). Male dancers typically wear a Myanmar turban, which is in Burmese known as gaung-baung (fig.).
