Due to rapid loss of habitat wild elephants in Thailand can occasionally be seen wandering onto roads (fig.). This often happens in or near National Parks, as here in Khao Yai National Park (fig.).

When spotted by, or reported to authorities, park officials will goad these elephants back into the forest.
