A
Buddha statue in a pose
known in Thai as
pahng song phayabaan piksu khai,
i.e.
the ‘position of
nursing a feverish
sick monk’.
It refers to the Buddha, who personally nursed a neglected, feverish monk,
demonstrating compassion and emphasizing the duty to care for the sick.
After the Buddha personally cleaned
and cared for him, he admonished the other monks for their neglect and reminded
them of their duty to care for the sick.
