dvarapala on temple gate
An ancient brick temple gate at Wat Tai in Kanchanaburi shows two bas-relief door guardians called dvarapalas (fig.).
Originally, both held a gada, that is a club or mace, and the main weapon of many a temple guardian, who are generally a kind of giant or yak (fig.) known as kumphan (fig.).
