In Thai architecture eaves brackets are usually ornate and as on this temple in the form of a naga. This triangluar type is in Thai known as thuay hoo chang, which means ‘elephant's ear eaves’. Other types of eaves brackets may be used for decorative purposes, as much as for support (fig.).
