Kung ten,
which literally means ‘dancing shrimps’,
are fresh water shrimps that are eaten alive, mixed with spices. It is a
favourite dish from
Phayao,
where they are caught from the
Kwahn Phayao freshwater lake
(fig.).
They
are
also sold
by
street
vendors
in
other
places and
on
markets,
where
they
are
kept
alive
in fish
tanks,
as
seen
here
with
this
itinerant
street
vendor
in
Bangkok.
