ithi doll
A doll of a Burmese hermit or ithi (fig.), made of papier-mâché, dances in the street in order to attract the attention of anyone passing by, inviting those who whish to do so to make a monetary gift.
In that sense, it is akin to the nationwide street dances of replica animals, such as buffaloes (fig.), horses (fig.), and elephants (fig.).
