  Wat Chan Tawan Tok

Thailand

Wat Chan Tawan Tok is a Buddhist temple in the northern Thai city of Phitsanulok, of which the surrounding wall and main prayer hall or wihaan, known as Maha Wihaan Reuan Thong, are in a yellowish orange to golden colour.

The temple's chofa are at the bottom front adorned with crystals and the depiction of a thepanom (fig.), i.e. an angel (thep) in a respectful posture clasping the hands as a token of worship and sign of respect (phanom), whilst the hook at the crooked peak is shaped into a Garuda-like face.

Once attached to the roofs, many chofa are adorned with wings and a tail making them reminiscent of the Golden Swan (fig.), which is in Thai known as Hong Thong, whilst at the beak a small temple bell, called a kradeung (fig.), is attached, that tinkles in the wind.
