Mural paintings in Central Thailand, depicting: 1. a western drawing style of some men and women pondering in awe at a giant lotus flower that blooms in the middle of a pool, the work of the painter Ek Karua Inkhong (เอกขรัวอินโข่ง), at Wat Borom Niwaat Rachaworawihaan in Bangkok; 2. a scene from the Thai-Laotian folk tale of the Lan Chang era known as Sri Thanonchai and also referred to as Chiang Miang, at Wat Pathum Wanaraam Ratchaworawihaan, a royal temple in Bangkok built during the reign of King Mongkut; 3. people watching theatrical, pantomime and opera performances, which were typically held at cremation ceremonies during the Ayutthaya and early Rattanakosin periods, and here hint to the cremation ceremony of the Buddha's remains, at Wat Pradu Song Tham (วัดประดู่ทรงธรรม) in Ayutthaya; and 4. a Mon man and a girl, dressed in a skirt that covers her breasts, pounding rice, at Wat Bang Khae Yai in Samut Songkhram. The mural dates from the Nine Armies War, i.e. the Burmese-Siamese War (1785-1786), when the Thai Army went to war with Burma, passing through villages of the Mon, Thawai, Tai Yai and Karen communities, and hence depicts the lives of people found along the way
