  Royal Thai Survey Department

Thailand

The main entrance to the head quarters of the Royal Thai Survey Department, located adjacent to the administrative building of the Ministry of Defence (fig.).

The building complex is situated in the back of the Saranrom Palace (fig.), i.e. the former location of the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (fig.), built in a similar style. Behind this historical facade is an inner court with newer buildings, that are only visible to outsiders from the air (fig.). Above the Thai name of the department is its logo, which includes the former and unofficial coat of arms of the Kingdom of Siam, which in part is also found on the top of the gable (fig.).
