  Panathenaic-like amphora

Vietnam

Pottery in a M'nong village, in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, of which the one depicting figures in black, seems designed after the style of ancient Panathenaic amphorae.

Yet, rather than with Greek individuals, it is decorated with characters holding typical eastern objects and musical instruments, such as folding fans (fig.), chaab (fig.) and a Thai-Khmer-Laotian mouth organ known as kaen (fig.), and wearing the traditional dress from Southeast Asia.
