 Subject:

Buddha image in the pahng saiyaat pose, i.e. the position of sleeping or reclining, which in the Phra prajam wan geut system corresponds to Tuesday, whereas the pink background corresponds to Tuesday in the sih prajam wan system. This pose refers to either the Mahaparinippahn of the Buddha, or ‒otherwise‒ to a scene in which the giant Asurindarahu wanted an audience with the Buddha, yet proud of his size refused to bow down before the Buddha, prompting the latter to enlarge his body to a size so huge, that he had to lay down in order to be able to meet with the giant (fig.).
