Nan
River, the bowsprits of the longboats are adorned with ornaments shaped in
the head of a
dragon (fig.).
These
decorative pieces are not part of the boat's permanent
structure but are fitted specifically for races. They
can be removed, replaced with other designs, or attached
to different boats as needed.
