A
baat is
the
alms bowl used by Buddhist monks and novices for early
morning
bintabaat
or alms-gathering. This novice in
Loei has
just cleaned his bowl and carries it back to his
kuti.
Alms bowls are usually carried with a strap around the shoulder. This novice in
Burma has three dots tattooed on his left hand, a religious
tattoo that refers to the
Tripitaka.
