A baat is the alms bowl used by Buddhist monks and novices for early morning bintabaat or alms-gathering. This novice in Loei has just cleaned his bowl and carries it back to his kuti.

 

Myanmar

Alms bowls are usually carried with a strap around the shoulder. This novice in Burma has three dots tattooed on his left hand, a religious tattoo that refers to the Tripitaka.
