The pranala is a discharge outlet in Tamil-Hindu temples, attached to the wall of the garbhagrha, the inner sanctum where the main deity's idol is placed.

 

This outlet discharges the lustral water or other liquids, such as milk, that are poured over the idols or a linga during ritualistic ceremonies.
