This Buddha image stands in a posture  known in Thai as pahng ancheun juti, i.e. ‘the pose of inviting the bodhisattva to incarnate’, and marks the earliest stage of the Buddha's final earthly life, when he accepts the invitation of Brahma and the gods to descend to the human world to attain Enlightenment as a Buddha.
