kalaga (shwe gyi do)
Kalaga is a kind of appliqué tapestry from Myanmar, which is heavily embroidered with gold thread or filigree (fig.).
It is often decorated with small pieces of coloured glass and/or small mirrors, and is also referred to as shwe gyi do. Here depicted are the Kinnara Canda and his shakti, the Kinnari Candah, i.e. the protagonists in the Canda Jataka (fig.).
