The
johng kraben,
a traditional Thai sarong-like lower garment from the past, is still
occasionally worn today. It can be seen on hotel staff (fig.)
and, as shown here, the cabin crew of Bangkok Airways.
The edge of the
garment
is passed between the legs and tucked at the wearer’s lower
back, giving it a shape more like loose pants than a skirt.
Historically, it was the everyday attire of the upper and middle
classes in Thailand.
