If a
cannabis plant (fig.)
contains more than 0.3% of
tetra-hydro-cannabinol (THC), it
is considered psychoactive and is then in Thai known as
gancha. However,
a modified version of the plant, with levels of
THC lower than 0.3%, is referred to as
ganchong and
is cultivated for its fibre used to
make hemp cord, sacks and bags (fig.).
