Edible insects
are in Thailand usually farmed and also referred to as six-legged livestock (fig.),
though some species, such as red ants and their larvae, as well as grasshoppers,
are in general collected from the wild.
On this plate are, clockwise starting in
the top left corner: mole crickets, small crickets, black crickets, a scorpion,
silkworm pupae, grasshoppers, and bamboo worms, as well as two small frogs and a
giant water bug, in the centre of the plate.
