  bagua mirrors (trigram door mirrors)

China

The bagua mirror is a round mirror that is surrounded or accompanied by a trigram. In China, these are placed over doors as a protective charm, to bring luck or ward off evil spirits.

Though the Chinese custom of using bagua door mirrors is related to feng shui, it is also reminiscent of the now rather old-fashioned practice of using door mirrors in adjacent India (fig.).
