Wat Tham Phra is a Buddhist cave temple situated along the Kok River (fig.) in Chiang Rai. It has a main cave and numerous smaller grottos, which house various statues of the Buddha, hermits, and of Phra Siwalih (fig.).

The main temple building is surrounded by colourful statues of creatures, i.e. mythological compound animals, from Himaphan (fig.), i.e. a mythical forest located in the  Himalayas, below the heavens of the gods.

The temple also features a platform with a large white Buddha image built on a rock at the river's northern bank. It is seated in the half lotus position and depicted with a vitarka mudra, which means ‘explanation’ and represents education.
