Wat Pah Ruak Tai
is a Buddhist temple
in the vicinity of the
Lao River in the
northern province of
Chiang Rai
of which the majority of the buildings are painted red.
The temple has some
well-maintained and neatly manicured gardens that
surround many of the edifices, as well as some
topiary
sculptures (fig.)
of which the bright green colours contrast nicely with
the red walls.

The principal
Buddha statue in the
temple’s
ubosot is seated in the
maravijaya pose and is
depicted with a notably fair, almost Caucasian-like
complexion.
