  Wang Nah Chan Kasem

Thailand

Wang Nah or the ‘Front Palace’, was used as the residential palace of the Krom Phra Rachawang Bowon Sathaan Mongkon, i.e. the viceroy or vice-king, though it was on occasions also used as a residence by members of the ruling royal family.

This palace dates from the Ayutthaya period and is located on the West bank of the Pa Sak River. It was built in the reign of King Naresuan (fig.) and is also known as Chan Kasem (fig.). Today, part of it houses the local National Museum of Ayutthaya.
