Nakhon Sri Borirak (นครศรีบริรักษ์)

Thai. The later title of Phia Meuang Pan (พญาเมืองแป้น), also known as Chao Meuang Phaen (เจ้าเมืองแป้น) and sometimes referred to as Thao Phia Meuang Pan (ท้าวพญาเมืองแป้น), Chao Phia Meuang Pan (เจ้าพญาเมืองแป้น), or Phraya Meuang Pan (พระยาเมืองแป้น). His original name was Thao Phan (ท้าวพัน) or Thao Sak (ท้าวศักดิ์). As an official of Suvarnabhumi, he became the progenitor of the Noen Phra (เนินพระ) family, which besides Nakhon Sri Borirak (นครศรีบริรักษ์) also includes distinguished lineages such as Sunthon Phithak (สุนทรพิทักษ์), Phan Phah (พันภา), and Setthaphumrin (เศรษฐาภูมินทร์). As the first governor and founder of Khon Kaen, Nakhon Sri Borirak played a pivotal role in the establishment of the city. Before assuming this position, he served as an official in Thurakom─Hongsa (เมืองเธอขม─หงสา) and resided in the Lan Xang Kingdom of Vientiane. He had previously been Kwan Ban (head of the village) in Chi-lon of Suwannaphum and lord of Ban Don Phayom Meuang Phia (บ้านดอนพะยอมเมืองพญา). Nakhon Sri Borirak was also the father of Chao Nang Kham Waen (เจ้านางคำแหวน), also known as Chao Chom Waen (เจ้าจอมแหวน), who became the first royal consort of King Rama I (fig.) during the Rattanakosin Period.
