Bot Samai Sukhothai, or the Sukhothai Era Ubosot’, in Ratchaburi is a replica ordination hall inspired by the architectural and artistic style of Wat Mahathat in Sukhothai (fig.).

 

At Na Satta, this Sukhothai-style ubosot is brought to life through a mesmerizing light display, using modern projection mapping to tell the story of Buddhism's arrival and flourishing in Thailand.

The Sukhothai period, spanning the 13th to 15th centuries, is regarded as the golden age of Thai Buddhism and art. It is also celebrated as the cradle of Thai civilization and the birthplace of the Thai script.
