Masonry or stone carving is an ancient trade in
Cambodia
and is still widely practiced today.
Craftsmen can regularly be seen at
work on the side of major roads between the capital and
Siam Reap, both on the South route via Battambang and
the North route via Baray.

After the initial rough cutting is
done and the following finer work is completed, a
skilled worker will correct the last details with
sandpaper.
