PROVINCIAL ESCUTCHEON
Songkhla
The coat of arms of Songkhla has a Sang conch displayed on a waen fah phaan. The Sang (in Sanskrit ‘Sangkha’), means ‘Conch of Victory’. It probably refers to its location near the sea and to the prosperity of the city, a ‘victory’ over poverty.
