The watchtowers are all that remain of the old Pahk Nahm prison in Samut Prakan, which was in operation between 1937 and 2001, when it was replaced by the new Central Prison due to overcrowding. The area inside the prison walls was about 14,000 square metres and is today made into a park and is home to the City Observation Tower (fig.).
