Ruby-cheeked Sunbird (male)
An adult male Ruby-cheeked Sunbird, perching on the stalk of a jang jihn palm in Phitsanulok province.
Besides the orangey to orange-rufous throat and breast, it also has dark ruby cheeks, which gave rise to its common name.
This colourful bird belongs to the Nectariniidae family and is found in large parts of Southeast Asia.
This small bird is only a mere 10.5 to 11 centimeters tall.
