  Royal Barges

The Royal Barges at the Royal Barges Museum (fig.). Each of the barges has a distinctive figurehead, often representing a mythical character from the Ramakien or from Himaphan Forest.

 

The one on the left has a figurehead that depicts Asurapaksi (fig.), a creature half-demon (asura) half-bird (paksi), the barge on the right represents the Garuda (fig.) fighting with a naga, and the barge in the center has the monkey general Hanuman (fig.) as a figurehead.
