Pushkar Lake was created when the Hindu god
Brahma dropped a blue
lotus
flower from his hand, and on
the spot where it fell the lake emerged.
In fact, in
Sanskrit the name Pushkar
means ‘Blue
Lotus’. The
city is a sacred place to Hindus and is the city were
Sumbha and
Nisumbha prayed for 10,000 years.
