Porcupines are called men in Thai. However, these photos were taken near Pinnawela in Sri Lanka and the species here is the Indian Porcupine, which is commonly found in South Asia.

It is also known as the Indian Crested Porcupine and strongly resembles the Malayan Porcupine, but it has much shorter manes (fig.). Only the latter species occurs also in Thailand.
