Thai-Chinese novices
practicing
Mahayana Buddhism,
i.e.
the form of Buddhism which is today
mainly practiced in countries of northeastern Asia. These off-duty novices at
Bangkok's
Wat Mangkon Kamalawat (fig.)
are dressed in an orange jacket and long
baggy
kaangkaeng le trousers
(fig.),
though during prayers they are
likely to wear a long orange robe (fig.).
However, the dress for
Mahayana Buddhist monks and novices differs greatly
per country (fig.).
