Little India
in
Bangkok is
a
vibrant neighbourhood near
Chinatown
(fig.)
which is
for a large part inhabited by people of Indian descent,
such as this woman wearing a traditional
saree
in
yellow.
The
quarter
consists largely of
a commercial area with typical Indian shop houses,
restaurants with Indian food, and a busy bazaar known as Phahurat Market.

This lively
place
at times reminds much of Old Delhi's Chadni Chawk area (fig.). It is also
home to a large
Sikh
temple,
which is known as
Gurudwara
Sri
Guru
Singh
Sabha
(fig.).
This
religious
complex with its
chattri-style
elevated
pavilion and
golden dome seems
somewhat squeezed into the many narrow alleys
surrounding it.
