A Little Heron, feeding on the banks of the Mekhong river in Ubon Ratchathani. It is overall grey, with a black crown, nape and cheek-stripe, some whitish streaks on the breast, and a small white patch behind the eyes. When seated, the bird's rather long neck is retracted in a hunched posture.

The eyes are yellow, the skin of the lores is yellow with black, and its legs, feet and lower mandible are yellowish-orange.
