The Iban (fig.) were once infamous for their practice of headhunting, which in the past made them a strong and successful regional warring tribe.

Many adult men of this tribe wear traditional tattoo designs on their bodies (fig.), with some men having hand tattoos, which signifies that they have taken an enemy’s head.
