A kuandao is a traditional Chinese weapon consisting of a heavy serrated blade on a 1.5 to 1.8 meter long pole. The deeply curved blade has a spike at the back and usually also an indentation at the spike's upper base.

This is to catch an opponent's weapon. Its purpose is to disarm an enemy and ward off his strikes rather than to attack.
