The Golden Monkey has a golden head with a dark crown, whitish ear tips and a greyish-blue face. Its body is greyish-buff above and white with golden-buff below, whilst its tail is grey with a white tip (fig.).

This monkey is related to the Yunnan Sub-nosed Monkey (fig.) and is likewise native to southern China, where it inhabits mixed forests up to 3,400 meters above sea level.
