These three erect river rocks at Yu Yuan or Yu Garden in Shanghai have been quarried from the Yellow River. They are part of the inner garden Chinese rockery (fig.) and the middle one, known as the Exquisite Jade Rock, is 3.3 meters tall.

It has multiple cavities that are internally all interconnected and it is said that if incense is burned at the bottom opening, smoke will blow out from every hole on the rock, and if water is poured in the hole at the top, it will likewise flow through the rock and emerge from each and every opening.
