Diospyros decandra is the chan, a tropical shrub or small tree that produces yellowish fruits, known as look-chan, which are about 3 to 6 cm in diameter and emit a strong, fragrant aroma.

These fruits are edible and are also believed to possess medicinal properties. In English, they are referred to as Gold Apples (fig.).
