Khamthiang Memorial House is an old
authentic Thai teak house, which was reconstructed and preserved in the
compound of the Siam Society in Bangkok and serves as an ethnological
museum. The teakwood house is
claimed to be more than 160-year old and is said to originate from
northern Thailand, with a roof decorated with
kalae
(fig.).
However, the house in the
Siam Society
compound has a roof in the style of central Thailand, i.e. decorated
with a hook or
antefix (fig.). |
