Different species of freshwater fish found in Thailand: 1. Black Sharkminnow (Labeo chrysophekadion), in Thai called pla kah dam (ปลากาดำ); 2. Indochina Featherback, also called Royal Knifefish (Chitala blanci), and in Thai known as pla tong laai (ปลาตองลาย); 3. a Silver Asian (Scleropages macrocephalus), i.e. a kind of Asian Dragonfish or Asian Arowana (Scleropages formosus), similar to the much slimmer Silver Arowana (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum) from southern America, which widely occurs in Thailand, but only as a popular aquaria fish (fig.), and in Thai called pla taphad (ปลาตะพัด); and 4. Giant Catfish (Pangasianodon gigas), in Thai referred to as pla beuk (ปลาบึก)
