  Ava Royal Ritual Pond

Myanmar

The Royal Ritual Pond of Ava, in today's Inwa. It is comparable to the Thai sra (fig.), the Khmer baray (fig.) and the Indian baoli or ghat (fig.), and was used for bathing, as well as for certain purification rituals.

The ancient palace pool has a low wall with a royal mango staircase (fig.), as well as encircling steps that descends into the water.
