A yin zhang or Chinese seal. Typically, better quality stamps are elaborately decorated. This one, made from ivory, has a carved White Elephant on top. Although the stamp's shape is cylindrical, the shape of the imprint engraved at they bottom (here invisible) is traditionally more likely to be square (fig.).
