satang roo
Some satang roo coins, from the reign of Rama V (fig.), on display at the small temple museum in the back of Wat Phrathat Lampang Luang (fig.). They have a round hole in the center and on one side a chakra (fig.) is embossed.
The round hole in the center of this former Siamese money allows for the coins to be strung together to create a higher value or to easily carry them around in bulk (fig.).
